The 19 Days Makalu Base Camp Trek Departure starts with the long striking flight to the Tumlingtar whereas the trek actually starts with Chichila where the trail is known for the forest the rhododendron and the lushness of the beautiful trees. Our team member will be there to pick you up at Tribhuvan international airport and escort you to your accommodation on the very first day. In the remaining time, you can stroll around the streets of Basantapur, Thamel, and some other places. You will be provided with the best hospitality along with a delicious Nepali cuisine dinner. You will be staying overnight in Kathmandu.

Today after early morning breakfast we take a flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar. After reaching Tumlingtar, we will have lunch and drive towards the Num. we will spend our overnight at num.

Today we will hike towards the Seduwa which is we begin by taking steep slopes to the Arun River and then we head to the dense forests after crossing the suspension bridge, we then ascend to the rain forests and stay for lunch then reach the Seduwa village where we stay for an overnight.

After an early breakfast, we hike to the Tashi Gaun where we will take a walk for about 3-4 hrs to the countryside village and then head towards the Tashi Gaun after ascending in the rice fields and millet. We will stay for an overnight at the camp and then enjoy our time at the Tashi Gaun.

Today we hike to the Khongma Danda out from the Tashi Gaun where we will relish our mind with the beautiful lush forests of the oaks and the rhododendron where we then hike towards the Kahum crest and then stay for an overnight at the Khongma Danda. The scenic mountain ranges will surely melt one's heart.

Today we will take a break to rest for a day to acclimatize ourselves. We will stroll around and visit some nearby monasteries and explore the sherpa lifestyle and culture.

Today will be an extreme day for us as we need to pass four passes to reach Dobate. We begin with climbing from Kauma La Pass and afterward head on to Keke La Pass. We further get on to Shipton La pass where we unearth wonderful Kalo Pokhari Lake. At that point, we trek for a few hours and pass Tutu La Pass to at long last reach Dobate. The trail can be difficult during the snowfall as we walk further we reach the beauty of the different vegetation and forests.

We head back to the Kahuma Danda from the Dobate where it takes about 6 hours of journey to return back and then reach to the overnight camp where we relish the picturesque place and then rest at the place for an overnight.

Today we make a long steep drop back to Tashi Gaon. At Tashi Gaon, we spend the remainder of the day unwinding so as to recoup from the high elevation.

We descend the Kasuwa Khola Valley back to Seduwa, at that point turn south down the west bank of the Arun River. From Sedua, we follow a path that slides tenderly to Mulgaon, and afterward drop steeply on a rough path through fields of corn and grain to the Ipsuwa Khola, crossing it on a suspension connect at 760 meters height. The course currently enters the hot base terrains of the Arun Valley. We trek over a few thick rhododendrons and bamboo woods and cross Arun River to leave Makalu Barun Conservation Area. We pass a little rustic settlement of Sherpas on our approach to Num. We at that point trek for several hours to arrive at the Sherpa town of Num.

Good to Know

Experience Required:

A good level of fitness and experience of mountain walking is required for the Makalu Base Camp Trekking. These tend to be longer treks with some more difficult days, some of which may involve walking at increased altitudes and more difficult terrain. Occasionally, there may be a long day when negotiating the more challenging sections such as a mountain pass or viewing peak.

Pre-Trip Meeting:

Prior to setting off to Makalu Base Camp Trekking, we host a Pre-Trip meeting here in the Kathmandu office on the 2nd day of your itinerary which starts in the evening during the dinner and introduces your trek Leader. It is an opportunity for individuals to ask questions about your Makalu trekking as well as introduce you to one another.

Equipment Check List:

The specified basic equipment checklists should help you with your packing. Remember to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. At the start of the trek, your packed trek bag should not weigh more than 20 kg.

Head:-

For head protection: Sun hat or scarf - Light balaclava or warm fleece hat - Sunglasses with UV protection.

Lower Body: -

A typical day:

At 6.30 am your Sherpa knocks on your door with a cup of good morning tea. Time for the Breakfast, tight up your bag pack, and head off for today's trekking hiking for the next three to four hours then at the pleasant spot we shall stop for an hour along the way for a well-prepared hot lunch. Later, a walk another three hours or so before you stop for the overnight. The evening can be spent reading or chatting with your fellow hikers or trekking crew about the trip of the day. An asset can be a pack of games to these nights; your trekking crew loves teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Eventually, it's time to bed for a well-deserved night.

Accommodation:

While at the Makalu Base Camp Trekking, lodging options are limited so please do not expect the Ritz! Nepal Nomad utilizes simplistic family-run lodges, with a large sociable central dining area and a cozy chimney burning fire. Lodges are on a twin share basis and we recommend you use your own sleeping bag. Accommodations in the Makalu Base Camp Trekking tend to have shared bathroom facilities and you may not always have access to a shower. Regardless of the lack of facilities, these lodges certainly have a rustic charm, most are blessed with spectacular views, and being family-run operations, they offer a great insight into the daily life of the Mountain people.

Insurance:

Nepal Nomad'sbooking terms & conditions of joining Makalu Trekking include that you must be fully insured with medical, emergency rescue evacuations including trip cancellation insurance which should cover over 3000m to 6000m.

Altitude Sickness:

The itinerary of the Makalu Base Camp Trekking is designed to ensure that there is plenty of time for adequate occurs as a result of acclimatization and cases of mountain sickness are rare. The common symptoms are headaches, nausea, irregular breathing, insomnia, and the swelling of fingers and glands. Medical Treatment is to descend to a lower altitude as quickly as possible which normally results in rapid improvement and recovery.

Meals:

On Makalu Base Camp Trekking, three meals on a full board basis will be provided (Nepali, Sherpa, and Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Chinese and Indian cousins). Every day dinner and breakfast will be placed and taken in the same lodge you spend overnight but Lunch will be taken on your way to the next village. Farewell dinner, breakfast, and reception will be provided in Kathmandu.
