Manaslu Circuit Trek starts in Soti Khola, a transportation facility from Kathmandu via Arughat, and it ends in Dharapani after crossing Besisahar. Beginning in the Gorkha district, it basically traverses to the opening roadhead of the Annapurna Circuit over a distance of about 177 kilometers. Normally, it takes 13 days to trek, running about 15 to 20 kilometers a day. One is allowed to enjoy the beautiful view, rest for water, snacks, and take pictures. The faces vary from rugged stretches of uphill and downhill to a snail's pace in the trail so one does not miss the magnificent views.

Although the Manaslu Circuit seems daunting in its own right, the breathtaking scenery will make it almost tolerable with every step you make higher into the journey. The beginning of the trek involves driving from Kathmandu to the trailhead based on the particular itinerary or package. Furthermore, the extra acclimatization hikes around make the total trekking distance longer.

Attractions of Manaslu Circuit Trek Distance

Manaslu Circuit Trek encompasses the highest point known as the Larkya La Pass, which is 5,200 meters above sea level. The crossing of this pass is exciting and at the same time challenging because its summit is usually covered by ice and snow. The trekkers start an early morning walk at 3 AM in order to reach this summit before strong winds develop later in the day.
Autumn, from September to November, and spring, from March to May, are generally considered the best seasons to cross the Larkya La Pass because the weather is pretty stable with less snow and ice. This is in stark contrast to the hardships during the monsoon season with frequent rain and unstable trails. Likewise, winter is also not a good time owing to heavy snowfall that shuts this pass.
A few of these suspension bridges are quite long and high, adding a bit of adventure for the trekkers who will cross them along the Manaslu Circuit. One should be able to view several striking vistas of the Himalayas during this trek, including the Annapurna range to the west, Ganesh Himal to the east, and Manaslu Himal. This even though it is a beautiful region is considered less traveled, seeing fewer than two percent of all trekkers in Nepal. This makes it the ultimate destination for those who like to avoid loud noise while trekking in very remote areas through subtropical jungles, onto scenic trails, up to Larkya La, and on top of the world.

Precautions and Factors Affecting Manaslu Trekking Distance

The physical fitness of trekkers will help them walk a good distance daily, hence reducing the total length of their trek. This is in contrast to those who have low fitness levels, who tire more easily after every few minutes and, therefore, cannot walk for longer distances. Conditions on the trail are an influencing factor on the trek speed. Where the trails are smoother, you can walk quicker, but having rain, snow, or rough terrain will make things slow down. Acclimatization is very crucial in preventing altitude sickness, so most of the agencies in trekking always incorporate 1 rest day at Samdo, and this increases the whole length of the trek.

Your tour starts with an arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, followed by hotel check-in. On the second day, drive from Kathmandu to Macha Khola; it takes approximately 8 hours of driving with beautiful views on the way. On the third day, it begins trekking from Machha Khola via several villages until Larkya La Pass-the highest altitude during the trek-over 5,160 meters above sea level-on day 11. In general, every trekking day involves 6 to 7 hours of walking.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is roughly 180 km in total, but it may vary with terrain and altitude. Proper acclimatization with gradual ascents is highly recommended due to altitude sickness in higher elevations. Weather conditions may be unpredictable, requiring flexibility in your plans. The remote nature of the circuit dictates that access to services is limited; hence, a thorough preparation is key. Manage your trek effectively by breaking it into smaller segments, say 9 to 10 km a day, or 5-6 hours of trekking. Also, utilize the trekking poles for better negotiation over rough ground and hire local guides and porters as they make the experience considerably easier for you with navigation and keeping the heavier loads.
